Numerical Analysis – MATH-05/A

The research group affiliated with the MATH-05/A – Numerical Analysis sector addresses a wide range of topics within numerical analysis, with applications across highly diverse fields.

Main Research Areas

The group's overarching objective is to combine theoretical understanding with the development of innovative numerical tools, addressing challenges related to complex problems of significant applied relevance across various scientific and technological domains. A central element of the research is the theoretical analysis of the problems to be addressed, with particular attention to topics such as solution stability. Furthermore, an in-depth analysis of numerical methods will be conducted, aiming to develop efficient and accurate techniques to provide robust approximations of solutions. The research activities of this sector include:

  • the application of advanced numerical linear algebra techniques for big data processing;
  • the numerical resolution of complex fluid dynamics problems;
  • the definition of models for non-local or memory-dependent problems, extending to applications in machine learning.
