Carmelo Ardito is Full Professor of Computer Science at the Polytechnic University of Bari, where he also serves as Coordinator of the Digital Creativity Engineering Program. From 2022 to 2024, he was Full Professor at LUM Giuseppe Degennaro University and coordinator of the Computer Engineering Program. Previously, he was Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Bari, coordinating the Computer Engineering and Automation Degree Program, and a permanent researcher at the University of Bari Aldo Moro. He teaches Human-Computer Interaction, Programming, Cybersecurity, and Visual Data Analytics. He also teaches Cybersecurity and Data Science in university master's programs and training courses.
His research interests are in the fields of human-computer interaction, human-centered artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. He is co-author of over 150 papers published in journals, international conference proceedings, and collections. He is on the editorial board of scientific journals and the program committee of the most prestigious international conferences in his field of research.
He is Vice-Chair of IFIP TC13, the Technical Committee on Human-Computer Interaction of the International Federation for Information Processing. In the same TC13, he is country representative for Italy, sector b), and Vice-Chair of the Working Group "13.2 - Methodologies for User-Centered Systems Design." He is also a member of the IFIP IoT Domain Committee, a member of ACM SIGHCI, and a member of the Italian Chapter on Human-Computer Interaction. In 2022, he was awarded the IFIP Service Award for his tireless work in TC13 and his significant contribution to the organization of international scientific conferences.
