Biography
Luca De Cicco has been an Associate Professor of Systems and Control Engineering February 2021. He graduated with honors in Computer Science Engineering in 2003. He received his Ph.D. in Information Engineering in July 2008 from the Polytechnic University of Bari (advisor Prof. Saverio Mascolo). His main interests range from mobile robotics, reinforcement learning, modeling and design of congestion control algorithms for multimedia transport to adaptive live video streaming, performance evaluation of congestion control algorithms, and future internet paradigms. Since 2017 he serves as Associate Editor for Internet Technology Letters (Wiley).
He has held several visiting researcher positions: at the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque, NM, USA) and at L2S (Laboratoire des signaux et systèmes) École Supérieure d'Électricité (Supelec), Gif-sur-Yvette (Paris), France; at the Laboratory of Information, Networking and Communication Sciences (LINCS) in 2013 and 2014. He was a post-doc at Telecom SudParis in 2015, working in the RST department.
He has been a member of the Academic Senate of Politecnico di Bari since 2021.
He was the General Chair of the ACM Multimedia Systems international conference in 2024.
He has been recipient of several awards: ACM MMSys 2016 best student paper, ACM SIGCOMM Internet-QoE Workshop 2016 best paper, ACM MMSys 2024 best ODS paper, ACM MMSys 2025 best demo paper, EuroXR 2025 best poster.
