Biography

Mariagrazia Dotoli, Electronic Engineer and PhD in Electrical Engineering, is Full Professor of Systems and Control Engineering the Polytechnic University of Bari. She has been a visiting researcher at the Université Paris VII in Paris (France) and at the Danish Technical University in Copenhagen (Denmark).
She is included in the list of the top 2% most cited scientists in the world in the fields of "Industrial Engineering and Automation" and "Artificial Intelligence" in Stanford University's prestigious global database.
She founded and has coordinated the Decision and Control Laboratory at the Polytechnic University of Bari for over a decade.
Since September 2025, she has been President of the national society SIDRA - Italian Society of Teachers and Researchers in Systems and Control Engineering the three-year period 2025-2028.
She founded and coordinates the National PhD Program on Autonomous Systems, with administrative headquarters at the Polytechnic University of Bari, with a network of over 30 Italian universities and more than 80 Italian and foreign academics who are experts in the field of automation, with over 50 PhD students currently enrolled throughout Italy.
She was General Chair of the 2024 IEEE Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, which took place in Bari from August 28 to September 1, 2024, bringing over 1,000 automation experts from academia and industry from around the world to Puglia to discuss the new frontiers of the sector.
She is an IEEE Fellow, class of 2024, of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society for her contributions to the control of logistics systems in smart cities.
She is a Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA).
He is a Fellow of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance (AIIA).
He is Vice President-Elect for Membership and Student Activities for the 2023-2026 term of the Systems Man and Cybernetics Society of IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the world's most prestigious society dealing with Systems and Cybernetics, with over 4000 affiliates worldwide.
She has held the following positions at the Polytechnic University of Bari: Vice Rector for Research, Rector's Delegate for Research, Delegate for Research for the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, elected member of the Academic Senate, and appointed member of the Board of Directors.
For over a decade, she has been a founding member of the spin-off of the Polytechnic University of Bari, Innolab S.r.l. For several years, the spin-off has provided consulting services to various Apulian SMEs in various fieldsSystems and Control Engineering.
She is a member of the Executive Committee of MEDITECH, the Italian center of expertise for Industry 4.0 established by the Ministry of Economic Development. She is a member of the Technical-Scientific Committee of the Apulian Production District for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. She is a member of the Traffic and Circulation Commission of the BARI-BAT Automobile Club. She was a member of the regional section of the national register of environmental managers in Puglia. She was a member of the Steering Committee of ARTI Puglia (Regional Agency for Technology and Innovation).
For over two decades, he has served as an expert consultant for numerous national and international organizations, including the European Commission and the European Science Foundation.
He is the author of over 300 international scientific publications, including over 100 articles in international journals, over 10 chapters in international books, a book in Italian, and numerous papers in international conference proceedings. As reported on his profile on the Google Scholar scientific database, he has received over 8,700 citations from researchers around the world, with an h-index of 51 and an i-index of 162.
