From 2003 to 2004, he served as a Reserve Officer in the Italian Navy. From 2004 to 2012, he worked as a System and Control Engineer and Technical Manager for a multinational company in the space and defense sector.
He is currently Associate Professor in Systems and Control Engineering the Polytechnic University of Bari, where he is technical manager of the Decision and Control Laboratory (coordinated by Prof. Mariagrazia Dotoli) within the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (http://dclab.poliba.it/). He obtained national qualification as Full Professor in 2023. Since 2022, he has been Deputy Coordinator of the National Doctorate in Autonomous Systems (http://dausy.poliba.it/phd/).
He is a member of the editorial board of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) journals as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering (awarded Best Associate Editor in 2023 and 2024) and IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics. He is also an active member of the editorial committees of conferences for various events sponsored by IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control) and IEEE, including those promoted by the IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS), the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), and the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMCS). His organizational roles include participation in the committees of several IEEE conferences, including Young Career Chair for the 2017 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, Publication Co-chair for the 2015 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, Tutorial Co-chair for the 2023 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Finance Chair and Special Session Chair for the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, and Publicity Chair for the 2026 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications. In 2025, he also served as General Chair for the IFAC Workshop on Smart Energy Systems for Efficient and Sustainable Smart Grids and Smart Cities.
A Senior IEEE member since 2022, he currently serves as Mentorship Subcommittee Chair of the Membership and Student Activities Committee within the IEEE SMCS for the 2023-2024 and 2025-2026 terms. He is also Secretary of Chapter CS23 of the Control Systems Society (CSS) of the IEEE Italy Section for the 2025-2026 term.
He is the author of over 120 international publications (Google Scholar profile: https://scholar.google.it/citations?user=OvXT8Y0AAAAJ&hl=en). His research focuses on the development of decision and control techniques for the modeling, optimization, management, and control of large-scale complex systems, particularly in intelligent fields such as industry and energy. He received the IEEE Italy Section SMCS Chapter Award for Excellence in Early Career Research in 2024.
