Biography
Professor of Automatic Control, he was Director of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering from 2015 to 2021.
He has been an IEEE Fellow since 2018 for his "contributions to modeling and controlling congestion in packet networks," a Senior Member of the ACM, and a member of the IFAC "Networked Systems" technical committee.
He has been Associate Editor of IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control; he is currently Associate Editor of the journal Computer Networks, Elsevier.
In 2013, he received the Cisco University Research Program Award for his research entitled "Architecture for Robust and Efficient Control of Dynamic Adaptive Video Streaming over HTTP."
In 2014, he received the Google Faculty Award for his research entitled "Congestion Control for Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC)".
Saverio Mascolo graduated with honors in Electronic Engineering in 1991 and received his PhD in 1994, both from the Polytechnic University of Bari.
In 1995, he was a post-doctoral fellow and in 1999 a visiting researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles; from 2002 to 2006, he was a visiting consultant at the University of Uppsala, Sweden.
