Silvano Vergura has been a Full Professor at the Polytechnic University of Bari since July 2023. He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy, in 1999 and 2003. His main research interests are in the modeling and monitoring of renewable energy systems (RES), nonlinear analysis of power systems, and new technologies for Smart Cities. He has focused his attention on the analysis of the energy performance of photovoltaic systems using infrared analysis, drones, and descriptive and inferential statistics of electrical data. He has been a member of the international program committee of several international conferences and symposia and editor of international journals. He has been a reviewer for over 50 international journals. He is the author or co-author of over 100 international publications. He holds a patent on the aging of photovoltaic modules and has designed several software programs. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and was Deputy Director of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bari from 2019 to 2021.
