Biography
Vito Giuseppe Monopoli is Full Professor of "Converters, Machines, and Electric Drives" at the Polytechnic University of Bari, where he teaches "Power Electronic Converters" in the Automation and Robotics Engineering degree program and "Power Electronics" in the Electrical Engineering degree program.
In 2003, he was an "Invited Researcher Fellow" at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Nottingham, Nottingham, United Kingdom.
Since September 2024, he has held the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bari and the position of Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree Program in Electrical Engineering.
Vito Giuseppe Monopoli is a Senior Member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.) and is also associated with the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) for activities related to the power supply of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva.
His research focuses mainly, but not exclusively, on issues concerning the application of electronic power converters in both electrical networks and electric drives.
Below is a non-exhaustive list of the main topics Vito Giuseppe Monopoli has dealt with:
• Multilevel electronic power converters for electrical networks (HVDC, STATCOM, Solid State Transformer, FER and BESS interface, Energy Hubs).
• Modulation techniques for multilevel converters.
• Innovative control techniques for electronic power converters for electrical networks and smart grids.
• Control of active power filters for improving harmonic quality on electrical networks.
• Control of converters for wind power generation.
• Control of converters for photovoltaic power generation.
• Power quality assessment indices on electrical networks in the presence of electronic power converters.
Vito Giuseppe Monopoli is the author of over 100 scientific publications on these topics.
