Erasmus+ is the new European Union mobility program for education, training, youth, and sports for the period 2014-2020, which has replaced all EU mobility programs, grouping them under a single name.
It encourages cooperation between European universities and student exchanges. All 28 EU Member States plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Turkey, Croatia, and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia participate in the program.
The Erasmus Plus project focuses on multiple key activities across different sectors. These include:

  • Key Action 1: Individual mobility for learning purposes;
  • Key Action 2: Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices;
  • Key Action 3: Support for policy reforms.

Key Action 1 includes student mobility, the "old" Erasmus program, which is divided into:

  • Student mobility for study purposes (ERASMUS FOR STUDY)
  • Student mobility for internships (ERASMUS STUDENT PLACEMENT)

Erasmus for study offers the opportunity to study abroad (attending courses, taking exams, preparing a thesis, conducting research, laboratory and clinical activities), obtaining recognition for the educational activities carried out.
Erasmus Placement, on the other hand, provides the opportunity to undertake a training internship abroad at institutions, companies, training and research centers operating in another EU country or country participating in the program.
It is possible to choose one or both options.
The Erasmus experience is of fundamental importance because, in addition to learning about and understanding the host culture, students learn to live with different cultures and begin to strengthen their awareness of their responsibilities.
