  • The graduating student must submit the Thesis Request to a faculty member using the Esse3 platform by:
    • 30 days before the graduation session (for Bachelor's degree programs);
    • 60 days before the graduation session (for Master's degree programs).

It is recommended to follow the Guide to the Thesis Request Process.

Important

As the thesis academic activity, select a course included in your study plan, and as the supervisor, the corresponding professor. "Internship", "Final Exam", or similar descriptions are not permitted as thesis subjects for Engineering degree programs.

Degree Attainment

  • Once the thesis supervisor has approved or assigned the Thesis Request on Esse3, you will be able to complete the Degree Attainment Application. The information provided in the thesis request will be automatically linked to the application.

Requirements

  • To submit the Degree Attainment Application, it is necessary to have passed all exams stipulated in the study plan, including the internship, and to have them officially recorded in your electronic transcript within 10 days before the graduation session.

Procedure

  1. Complete the Degree Attainment Application on Esse3.
  2. Once the application has been submitted, you will receive an email assigning a career verification contact person.
    N.B. If a degree application was already submitted for a previous session, it is necessary to re-submit it following the procedure on Esse3. The payment of the graduation fee (€83) will not be required again.
  3. Upload the documents required for career verification in the "Career Attachments" section on Esse3.
    • Follow the Guide to Career Attachments to Upload.
    • When: Immediately after completing the Degree Attainment Application and in any case no later than 10 days before the graduation session.
  4. Make the payment of the graduation fee (€83) by the deadline indicated in the payment notice or, if the deadline is after the session, by and no later than the tenth day prior to the session.
    • Payment can be made only after the fee has been uploaded by the career advisor.
  5. Upload to Esse3 the thesis in PDF format and the thesis attachments.

Degree Thesis

For the drafting and binding of the thesis, it is necessary to use the official templates issued by the Department, available in the following formats:

The specified templates adhere to the thesis drafting order, including the documentation to be inserted. For the submission of the PDF format to be uploaded to Esse3, the following order must be observed:

  • Title Page: the signatures of the candidate and the supervisor are not mandatory.
  • Disclaimer: fill in the form, adding the date of completion and the graduate's signature. Only if you do not authorize consultation is it not necessary to specify the Keyword and Abstract.

Thesis Presentation

  • Registered candidates will receive, after the tenth day prior to the session, an email containing a Microsoft Form link for the electronic submission of the PowerPoint and instructions regarding the day and time by which to complete the transmission.
  • The file must strictly be in PowerPoint.
    • Name the file as follows: “PPT_gg-mm-aaaa-CCCC Nnnn–0000” according to the following notation
      • instead of “gg”, insert the day of the graduation session in digits
      • Replace “mm” with the month of the graduation session in digits (if a single digit, precede with a “0”: e.g., February write “02”).
      • Replace “aaaa” with the four-digit year of the graduation session.
      • Replace “CCCC” with the surname (all in uppercase).
      • Replace “Nnnn” with the first name (lowercase except for the initial capital letter).
      • Replace “0000” with the student ID number.
  • On the day of the graduation session, candidates must prepare an oral presentation of their thesis work, not exceeding  5 minutes for Bachelor's degrees and 7 minutes for Master's degrees, which may be accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation. Given the limited time available, the presentation should summarize the most significant points and results of the work undertaken;
  • The PowerPoint presentation file for the thesis defense must be submitted via the Microsoft Form link at least 2 days prior to the session;
  • It is advisable to bring a copy of the PowerPoint presentation on a USB stick on the day of the thesis defense, even if already submitted digitally, for use in case of technical issues;
  • The received thesis presentation files will be uploaded to the computer available to graduating students during the session by the academic secretariat;
  • Various instructions will be sent to graduating students via their institutional email address a few days before the oral examination.

Please note

The PowerPoint file can only be uploaded once. During the session, the file may be replaced only in cases of extreme necessity. It is emphasized that the presentation is not a document to be archived by the secretariat but is solely for the oral exposition; therefore, we kindly request that files not be replaced due to minor errors.
