The research group conducts its research activities in the Power Electronics Laboratory and the Electric Machines and Drives Laboratory. The primary research activities focus on innovative, efficient, and reliable systems for energy conversion from renewable sources and for the electrification of various transportation means.

Innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency, flexibility, and reliability of power electronic converters employed in the electrification of transportation systems and in the integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems into modern power grids and microgrids.
The high-efficiency operation of power electronic converters is crucial for their widespread adoption in both grid applications and the electrification of transportation. This thematic macro-area will pursue the following research lines in the coming years:
- Advanced control techniques for modular multilevel converters for grid applications and the electrification of transportation.
- Flexible modulation strategies for converters.
- High-frequency power electronic converters.
- Innovative solutions for electric machines and drives for e-mobility and industrial applications.
Optimized design of electric machines and drives and their intelligent management are fundamental for minimizing energy consumption throughout their operational lifecycle. This thematic macro-area will pursue the following research lines in the coming years:
